Our Story

A note By Lekha

(Co-Founder UniKraftz, Special Educator)

UniKraftz is a small venture started by two craft lovers and best friends. We both come from different professional fields, but our common love for craft sparked the idea. The basic concept of UniKraftz came up on normal evening coffee chats between both of us. After completing studies and working in our respective professional fields we both thought of starting something of our own.

My experience as a practising Special Educator and Meghana as HR and a craft lover helped us to take up the step towards forming UniKraftz. Initially we were worried about how to make our presence on social media platforms in-order to grow, me and Meghana are into designing and making the toys. Then we found our Creative Social media handler, Agasti who now has joined us as a core member.

We wanted to create educational toys, the concept is not very known and popular in our society.

Our initial educational toys were appreciated a lot by our family and friends. Then we thought why not take it even further. We worked a lot on the designs and we made a point that our toys are safe even for the babies to handle without any worries. Our educational toys are colorful and bright, they attract child’s attention easily. The toys are durable, light in weight making the toys portable so parents can easily carry in their bags while travelling. Unikraftz toys stand out from rest of the toys in the market because they are designed keeping in mind every child’s individual educational and developmental needs. Our toys are washable so there is no compromise on hygiene and infections that kids get through toys.
Unikraftz has a very very long way to go…..Sky is the limit for us!

Meet The Team

Dream together, Work together.

Lekha
LekhaCo-Founder
She completed her higher graduation from Mumbai University, with a degree in Psychology. Later she completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology. After teaching specially abled children in a remedial centre, she completed her B.Ed in Special Education (Learning Disability), from SNDT Juhu.
She has taught Children with Special Needs in a BMC schools in Mumbai for few years.

She is a craft lover and also likes to travel to new places.

She believes that learning should happen in fun and organic way and not by mugging up the textbook content, which is just done for clearing the school exams. Students tend to forget this kind of learnt content immediately. When learning happens through understanding the content it stays with us for ever.

She, while teaching children with special needs thought why are all kids not taught in their schools using interactive, student-centered methods.

There came up UniKraftz with a strong will and desire to make the teaching-learning experience fun and productive.

Meghana Joshi
Meghana Joshi Co-Founder
Meghana is an ambitious home-maker always wanting to do something creative. She has completed her MBA from Karnataka University. She is a diehard craft lover who is always curious about trying out various craft mediums.

Meghana always wanted to do something concrete in the field of handmade craft. Her corporate job did not bring any joy as much as crafting did. It all started with a common love for crafting that she shared with Lekha over a usual coffee conversation.

She then decided to give up her well paid corporate job to chase her crafty dreams. The journey began when Meghana and Lekha actually started discussing plans to start something of their own, and the UniKraftz cam into existence.

She has a strong backing from her family, which boosted her further. Today like the male counterparts, women are writing fresh stories of unprecedented success, they are expanding their entrepreneurial horizons and venturing into business to become economically independent.

Working with local artisans, supporting and encouraging more and more women to join Unikraftz is the common desire that is taking Unikraftz to newer horizons.
